Yes. They were cheesy and I love them. I also think they’re a great tool to include characters that weren’t highly focused on. Like I feel like 5a would’ve felt less like it was missing something if we had Maddie voice overs.

so i know we don't technically know if the shooting was supposed to be the start of canon buddie, like at the end of the day, we're just theorising based on what oliver's said (though i do think it makes the most sense just given, y'know, everything) but now i'm thinking about s5 buddie and how something about their relationship just felt so fucking tender????????? like, the tone was obviously much heavier in s5 and, as such, their moments were much more serious/emotional as opposed to lighthearted but there really was just so much affection underneath every single one of their scenes, y'know???? and when i think of fanon buddie - the buddie i write in fics set in some nebulous canon compliant timeline - it's always the version of them we get during that season. the ones who are undoubtedly a family and have seen the worst of each other and just see each other full stop and are there to pick up each other's pieces when they need to. there was just this overall feel that they were Going Somewhere with it all and i really, really do think in another timeline it would've been the slow burn build up of all time 🥹

There really hadn’t been any indication that the relationship was going to sour this quickly, so the way he talks about Buck “settling” for Taylor was interesting. Also him saying that Lucy made Buck feel alive like he hasn’t in some time is lol.

question cause i’m new to 911/buddie. i’ve seen people say buddie was supposed to go canon in an early season but higher ups shot it down. is there proof of that, or is it fans wishing they’d gone canon earlier? do you know?

Ok anon let's start from the beginning

There is this one twitter account (who we call Marvel account) that has been posting inside information since at least 2021. This account had legit info and would post things that ended up being canon with MONTHS in advance. We don't know who this person is or how they get this info but his source is 100% legit. This info will be useful later so we're leaving it for now

Back in s4 when the sho*ting/Will storyline was created, it was created with the purpose of establishing Buddie canon. Of course at the time we had no idea this was happening. The problem??? Fox didn't like that one bit, so they decided to shut it down. We still got that scene but after it happened we never got it mentioned again

This is the reason why I personally especulate Tim Minear decided to leave the show and go work in LoneStar full time (this is not confirmed but it would make sense since he probably had been building up buddie since at least s3)

Fast forward to 2024 Oliver confirms in a podcast inteview post 7x04 that he had been approached with the idea of Buck being bi a couple of years ago (he doesn't especify the time frame but we can guess) but then it was shut down from above (I'll leave the video below as proof)

ALSO! It was also confirmed thanks to Lou Ferrigno Jr. in an interview that the Tommy storyline (the kiss and relationship) was originally going to go to Eddie but then changed direction and went to Buck instead...

Ryan ALSO confirmed in a post S7 interview that he didn't know to whom the storyline was going to go in the very beginning (I'll post it below when I find it)

So going back to Marvel account... during pride month this year after getting mad because of certain shippers (bt) Marvel account posted this

It confirms that Eddie has always been a gay character and they tried to make that canon during 5A (the panic attacks and the whole EddieAna break up being HEAVILY repressed gay coded) and in s7 with the Tommy storyline which gave us bi Buck in the end...

SO! Putting the pieces together we come to the conclusion that Eddie was introduced as a heavy gay coded character and with the chemistry Ryan and Oliver had Tim decided for Buddie and was shut down by FOX

Now on ABC they gave us bi Buck in the first couple of episodes and intensified the repressed gay Eddie storyline

We ARE still missing gay Eddie but it's only a matter of time in my opinion until we get Gay Eddie and Buddie canon

I don't think we, as a community, talk enough about the trauma Harry went through. I mean, his sister tried to kill herself when he was 8/9 years old (may is also a whole situation on itself, I could make the same post about her, just more intense) then someone pointed gun at him when he was around 11(?). THEN, there is the whole "his mom nearly got beaten to death" thing, and after that, he got kidnapped by the guy that nearly killed his mom and now, in the new season? The whole mom and other important people in big danger thing again.

I know there are characters with more traumatic things, but he still has some, which I've never seen discussed in the fandom

i only started watching 911 when s6 was airing so i wanted to ask what the attitude was like towards bucktaylor when s4-5 was airing? from the persoective of someone watching retroactively, taylor seems like the most developed buck love interest after abby (and besides eddie obv) but there are still some fundamental hangups (her willingness to exploit bucks family for her gain) and their rship goes up in flames by the end. still theres a solid run where they seemed healthy and has genuine chemistry. was there ever a time where she was considered a plausible endgame LI?

bucktaylor was extremely hated by the buddie fandom, as was taylor herself for the most part. i wasnt around during s4/first half of 5 but i know between 5a and 5b everyone was counting down the days until btbones.

for me personally, having binged the show up until 5a, i thought she was likely an endgame love interest for buck, especially given that they took the time to flesh out her backstory and even gave her her own storyline in 5x07. I was surprised that the rest of the fandom was convinced they would break up by the end of the season. then they turned out to be right 😅
